I’m Jules, and I have been telling stories professionally for the last 20 years.

Since the day I graduated - storytelling has been at the heart of every role I’ve done - from starting my career as a magazine editorial assistant, training as a news reporter and specialising as a court reporter, sidestepping into PR as a university press officer to going self employed in 2017 as a content creator, and ultimately launching my photography business in 2021.

This year I enter the fifth successful year of Jules Williams Photography and I’m so excited to be introducing 1:1 Mentoring for Photographers, to share what I’ve learnt with you.

I photograph all sorts from weddings to newborn to branding and family sessions - the latter being how I built, grew and established my business here in the north east of England. Family sessions will always be at the centre of what I do. They are where I found my style, honed my brand and where I hit the ground running, learning my craft in action - by being booked to capture people’s heirloom memories. While I studied film photography as part of my degree and I’ve always had a love affair with taking photos, family sessions were my first paid client work and are what truly what gave me the belief, the grounding and the confidence to do everything else I also now do.

My business has continued to evolve via a commitment to never stop learning and honing my skills and offerings and by what I can only describe as having a can do attitude and mindset, and consistent, bloody hard work! Running your own photography business is no joke. As well as being able to use a camera, it takes sheer graft, passion and commitment. All that said, goodness do I love my job.

In mentoring, I’d love to share my experiences and the things that have worked for me and progressed my business - such as how storytelling is the common thread that still runs through everything I do. If you are looking for reassurance, guidance - someone you can bounce your ideas off or ask those difficult questions, then you are in the right place. I am an open book and I am here to share what I’ve learnt and what works for me.

This 1:1 mentoring is for you, if you are at the beginning of your photography business journey, building your brand, looking for guidance for sessions such as family photography, or you are already established but are looking to expand into something that I do, that you feel I can help you with. If you are interested, please fill out the contact form below and I will then send you a questionnaire to find out more about you and what you would like help with.

Please note, I will never take on a booking where I am not the right person to help you /my experience doesn’t match to what you need.

I will not be mentoring on the following: teaching manual (to learn manual I recommend the brilliant online course Start Where You Are). How to edit in my specific style, or other specific styles.
