A stunning springtime wedding at Masia Victoria, Sitges, Barcelona
A springtime wedding under the Spanish sun in April, you say? That’ll be a yay from me!
Yes, when photographer extraordinaire, and my dear friend Laura Adams asked me to be her second photographer at Sophie and James’ Masia Victoria villa wedding in Sitges, Barcelona, I couldn’t quite believe my luck.
What I expected? An incredible destination wedding assisting one of my best pals, with hopefully a day or two either side to explore and drink sangria.
What I got? An unforgettabe 96 hours with all of the above, plus being invited to stay in the wedding villa for the duration, so that the bride and groom, and their friends and family, felt so relaxed and familiar around us, that come the day of the wedding we felt a part of the celebrations in a way I personally have never experienced before. Being able to get to know this wonderful family, felt like a real gift as one of their photographers.
The villa itself, was a truly special find for Sophie and James. I say villa, but Masia Victoria is in fact a 15th Century Catalan manor, no more than a ten minute drive from the sea and easily accessible by public transport to Barcelona. Steeped in elegance, character and charm, it has a pool and can accommodate weddings for up to 70 guests. It also has its own catering team and uniquely gorgeous spaces for either an indoor or outdoor ceremony.
Sophie and James’ day, felt so truly personal to them. Sophie had said she wanted it to feel relaxed and fun like an extension of a family barbecue. While the setting was undoubtedly grander than that - the atmosphere absolutely hit the nail on the head, for what she wished for.
What an honour to have been a small part of this day. When the bride makes you a coffee and brings it to your room as you’re getting ready the morning after her wedding, you know you’ve hit the jackpot. Thank you Sophie and James for such an incredible welcome and experience. Thank you Laura, for being the friend you are and having me right there with you. The best of times together, always.
