I’d seen this dreamy pink castle on instagram forever, so when staying in Aberdeenshire for work last month I could not believe my eyes when I saw Craigievar Castle signposted as being just eight miles away. I knew then that before my working weekend was up, I HAD to finally visit the place, believed to have inspired Walt Disney’s Cinderella Castle, for myself. I went at 6am on the Sunday before my long drive home. It glowed in the sunshine, and I was the only person there. It lived up to every expectation. In fact, it was better.
