A love letter to Leeds: a styled elopement in the city

Before relocating to the North East in the midst of social distancing and the lockdowns of Summer of 2020 - I lived in Leeds for just shy of a decade. It’s a city where I turned 30, became a parent, changed careers and started a business (not this one!). As renters we moved a fair bit and we experienced living in five different neighbourhoods of the city. I arrived in Leeds a newlywed and left a mum-of-two, Yorkshire-loving resident who could have easily stayed put and called it home forever.

I hadn’t started my photography business then, so now when I return I see the gorgeous grit of the city streets with new eyes. I might be biased… but it’s one hell of a backdrop for a photo shoot of any depiction, let alone a love story of elopement and wedding proportions.

I’ve wanted to do my own styled shoot for a while, one because it’s an opportunity to really showcase my style and get creative, and two - I’d LOVE to take on some city wedding booking for Leeds Town Hall.

Once I had the green light from gorgeous couple Yuna & Ash, I knew exactly how I wanted the session to play out. I wanted a fast-paced, vibrant, fun-fuelled and romantic city love story. What’s more while Yuna & Ash currently still call Leeds home, the pair are set to relocate to Japan where Yuna is from in just a matter of weeks - so without a doubt my love letter to Leeds was, their love letter too. They were in this just as much as I was and that for me was a really important element.

The shoot went better than I could have hoped - the couple were a loved-up dream who really embraced my vision. One of my absolute favourite florists The Real Flower Company, supplied the stunning bridal bouquet which I feel really added the layer of city chic edgy luxe I was looking for. You can order from them online UK-wide for next day delivery - brides-to-be I couldn’t recommend them more.

Without further ado - I give you Yuna & Ash.
